This elephant family was in panic when the youngest of them began to drown. The sand shoals were too deep and the mud was too slippery for them to reach out for the calf and save it.
Luckily, David Sheldrick Wildlife Refuge got a call and sent a rescue team to the place. But elephants were aggressive and ready to attack anyone who approached them. Very carefully the wardens reached the pit where the baby elephant got stuck.
The calf was pulled up with ropes until it could use its own weight to climb out.
As soon as the calf was released, it was surrounded with the elder
elephants who were resolute to protect him from any further threat.
An observer commented on his Facebook page: "The elephants just
wanted to protect their baby. They didn't know that you meant good.
Thanks for showing them that you are nice guys"
